GILLING WEST VILLAGE HALL
Community Learning Facility Sub-Committee
Meeting - John Ross Suite – Monday, July 19th, 2010.
Minutes.
Present: H. Armitage (Chair), J. Stansfield, C. Bradley and M. Gauntlett..
Apologies for absence received from K.Hunter and M. Towell.
Minutes of the previous Meeting were accepted as a true record.
Facility Usage: The list of courses forwarded by MT was examined and concerned expressed at the small number of bookings so far for the approaching Autumn. JS added that while her computer courses would continue, she would not be pursuing the Dyslexia course mentioned at the last meeting due to the cost involved. MG reported that two ‘Child Protection’ courses had taken place and it was a good possibility that more would be arranged henceforward.
Any Other Business: HA commented on his recent visit with MG to the AGM of the Teesdale Village Hall Consortium held at Mickleton. He was impressed with the make-up of the Hall compared to our own – the lack of windows which assisted in reducing the central heating cost; the impressive stage and the enormous film screen. TVHC members have, during the last year, taken up a free offer to have a report made of their own facilities and HA has arranged for this to be conducted here. HA commented that while we were not based in Co. Durham and therefore would be unlikely to qualify for funding, the contacts that could evolve from the association may well be to our advantage.
MG stated he would be attending a meeting of Consortium of Resource Centres at Reeth on Monday 26th. This is a newly formed group in Richmondshire whose members have similar interests to the JRS.
Date of the Next Meeting: Monday, September 9th @ 6.30pm.
